Friday, September 7, 2012 - Travel Day over to Myles Standish Forest, MA

Marina making herself at home

Got out at a reasonable hour, stopped at the local sewer authority for a much needed dump, another quick stop at a Walmart before arriving at the Myles Standish Forest near Plymouth, MA. The office parking lot was too small and didn’t have a turnaround, so I had to back up to get out of it. Paid through Monday, not sure how long we’re planning on staying. Once we arrived at the campground we had to wait for a few minutes while another trailer was getting set up and were blocking the road in the meantime. Everyone in their group was dressed in desert fatigues and the side of the truck said something about Mass. Militia. Not sure what that was all about... Finally got past them, and headed toward the spot we had picked. The rangers in the office wouldn’t let us just pick a spot and call them, they insisted we select a site, sight unseen, and if we changed our mind we had to come back to the office to get new passes (6 miles of rough and potholed roads). Well, naturally, we found a site we thought would be better, so I immediately called to change the site, but they still insisted we come back for new vehicle tags. Once we got set up, I took the arduous trip back to pick up the new tags. What a waste of time and energy, but what can you do? The area where the horses were highlined had a lot of pine roots sticking up, and someone had gone around and painted them all blue, I guess to help people avoid tripping over them, which wasn’t easy even with the paint! Anyway, we finally got settled in, Hubby managed to get a satellite signal, and we had a quiet evening after a longer than expected day.

Thursday, September 6, 2012 - More Rest

Finally got the energy to unpack our big bag and hang everything back up in the van (our second closet). Did some preparation for our departure tomorrow, we just can’t put it off any longer, we’ve got to get back on the road, no matter how we feel, or we’re never going to get to all the places we want to get to before the end of the season.

Wednesday, September 5, 2012 - More Sleep

Still can’t hear, but starting to feel a little better. Still spending most of our time resting, though.

Tuesday, September 4, 2012 - More Sleep

We had originally planned on leaving today, but we were both still just worn out, decided to stay and recharge our batteries a couple more days. Finally got the energy to unpack two of our suitcases, but not enough to unpack the largest one. That was about the extent of our energy.

Monday, September 3, 2012 - Shopping, Clinic and Crash Day Again

Feeling slightly better, still can’t hear, and I’m a little worried about it. Decided that since we had to go out to do some shopping that we would stop at a clinic nearby just to get checked out. The nurse practitioner prescribed eardrops to prevent infection in the perforated ear, but just said to stay on the Sudafed regime, and to have a followup with an ENT (like we have time for that!) She didn’t seem to think my hearing in the left ear would come back for awhile, but that the right ear should recover before to long. Once we finished there, we got home and crashed again, still recovering from the past six weeks of non-stop activity.

Sunday, September 2, 2012 - Crash Day

Woke up early out of habit, but didn’t get out of bed until much later. Still can’t hear, throat just as sore as it was the first day I got sick, spent most of the day in bed or in my recliner. Yuck!

Saturday, September 1, 2012 - Flight Back to Providence

As the flight left at 9:30, we got up early, our car service picking us up at 7:00, then we enjoyed a fairly leisurely breakfast at the airport before our flight. Thankfully, this flight wasn’t quite as cold as the first one, so I didn’t have a relapse. However, by the time we landed, not only could I not hear in my left ear, which was the one that had been perforated, now my right ear was deaf as well. No matter what I did, swallowing, blowing my nose, whatever, I couldn’t get my ear clear, so now I’m pretty much deaf now. Wonder how long this is going to last. Got back to the trailer, and I was so exhausted that every fiber of my body was screaming at me "Go to bed!!" So that’s exactly what I did, just climbed into bed and didn’t move until supper time. Had a meal, watched a little TV, then went straight back to bed.
